Core Courses
All M.P.A. students complete 24 semester houros of core courses:
Professional Development Course
All M.P.A. students must complete a 3-credit professional development requirement in addition to the 8 core courses and 4 existing elective (or concentration) courses. For pre-service students, the professional development requirement must be met by completing a 300-hour internship. In-service students will choose how to meet this requirement from among the following options in light of their career goals:
(1) An additional graduate-level 3-credit course from the M.P.A. curriculum or another graduate program; M.P.A. courses may include independent studies, group studies, and directed research courses if agreed to by a PSPS faculty member;
or
(2) Three 1-credit graduate-level PSPS mini-courses aligned with their career goals; mini-courses may also include independent studies, group studies, and directed research courses of a commensurate scope.
Concentration Requirements
M.P.A. students may earn a concentration in Nonprofit Management by completing four courses (12 credit hours) as listed below to fulfill the elective requirement for the degree. Three are required.
