MATH 1130 - College Algebra (QR) (3) Credit Hours
Designed as a pre-requisite for students with majors that require MATH 1730 or MATH 1830 . Includes topics such as polynomial, rational, radical, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their graphs, factoring, solving linear inequalities, solving linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic equations, slope and equations of lines, difference quotient, systems of equations, exponential growth and decay, and mathematics of finance. Mathematical models are taken from business, biology, and the social sciences. Fall, spring, summer semesters. Lecture 3 hours. Prerequisites: A score of 19 or higher on the ACT Math or successful completion of the Step Ahead Math program or completion of a developmental math course (transfer) with a C or higher or department head approval. Credit not allowed in MATH 1130 after completion of MATH 1830 or MATH 1710 or any other mathematics course for which these are prerequisites. Credit not allowed in both MATH 1130 and MATH 1710 .
