NURS 7630 - Pharmacology & Pharmacogenetics for Nurse Anesthesia


(3) Credit Hours

This course focuses on the adjunctive drugs prescribed for treatment/management of acute or chronic diseases or administered to surgical and obstetrical patients in the perioperative period. Emphasis is on the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics of these drugs and their potential interactions with various anesthetic agents.  The effects of how genetic variability between individuals and age-related altered physiology contribute to differences in drug responses are also examined. Prerequisites: NURS 7620  with a minimum grade of B or department head approval. Admission to the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Concentration. Differential course fee will be assessed.
