Education Minor

A student may obtain a minor in education by completing:

• EDUC 2010 - Education in the United States
• EDUC 2200 - Survey of Exceptional Learners
• EDUC 2420 - Adolescent Development
• EDUC 3210 - Literacy Instruction in the Content Areas
• EDUC 4180 - Curriculum and Instruction

• Student seeking teacher licensure MUST take:

• EDUC 4335 - Designing Instruction and Assessment

• Student NOT pursuing an APPROVED pathway to teacher licensure, MUST take one of the following:

• EDUC 3500 - Teaching Strategies and Materials in Elementary Grades Mathematics  or
• EDUC 3510 - Science Concepts and Perspectives  or
• EDUC 3520 - Social Studies Topics, Concepts and Perspectives  or
• EDUC 3530 - Concepts of Language Literacy: Acquisition, Development, and Usage  or
• EDUC 3600 - Foundations in Teaching English as a Second Language  or
• EDUC 3170 - Designing Instruction for the Inclusive Classroom  or
• EDUC 3180 - Methods in Special Education  or
• EDUC 3190 - Behavior Intervention Planning  or
• EDUC 3220 - Literacy I: Instruction for Emergent Learners (Birth-1st Grade)  or
• EDUC 3090 - Young Exceptional Learners: Characteristics and Needs

Additional Information and Notes

A minimum 2.75 average is required in all courses for the minor.

For licensure, additional courses are required based on your content area. See your academic advisor or the School of Education website for a list of specific courses.
