The Music Education concentration offers three tracks: Kodály Certification, Secondary Instrumental Pedagogy, and Secondary Vocal Pedagogy. The program includes 15 hours in the major area; six hours in Music Theory and Music History cognates; nine hours for the Kodály Certification track or six hours for the Secondary Instrumental Pedagogy or Secondary Vocal Pedagogy tracks; three hours of electives for Secondary Instrumental Pedagogy and Secondary Vocal Pedagogy; and a one-hour Project in Music Education. The course of study will be determined by the student in consultation with the graduate advisory committee.

Students in the Secondary Vocal Pedagogy Track will take MUS 5280 twice for a total of six credits. Students in the Secondary Instrumental Pedagogy Track will take MUS 5290 twice for a total of six credits. Students in the Kodály Certification Track will take MUS 5300, 5310, and 5320 for a total of nine credits.
Approved Electives: 0-3 hours
Students in the Secondary Vocal Pedagogy and Secondary Instrumental Pedagogy tracks will have 3 credits of electives.
