GEOL 1040 - Earth’s Resources and the Environment (LC or NL)


(3) Credit Hours

This course explores how Earth’s resources are formed and distributed, extracted, and used and how their extraction and use impact the environment and society. Students will engage with geologic topics related to mining, metal and mineral abundance, water abundance and quality, climate change, as well as the challenges related to resources and the environment as population, and therefore demand, continues to grow. This course can be taken to fulfill the General Education Natural Science non-lab category, or with GEOL 1105L to fulfill the General Education Natural Science with a lab category. Also, the lab can be taken during a later semester if needed. Lecture 3 hours.
