GEOL 1030 - Natural Hazards (LC or NL)


(3) Credit Hours

This course will cover the causes and effects of earth hazards such as earthquakes, floods, sinkholes, landslides, subsidence, hurricanes, coastal erosion, wildfires, climate change, and impacts of extraterrestrial events. Discussion around each event will include effects to society and adjustments by humans living on a dynamic planet.  Course topics will include reviews and explanations of worldwide natural hazards occurring during the semester.  This course can be taken to fulfill the General Education Natural Science non-lab category, or with GEOL 1110L to fulfill the General Education Natural Science with a lab category. Also, the lab can be taken during a later semester if needed. Lecture 3 hours.
