PHYS 5820 - Quantum Hardware and Experimental Platforms

(3) Credit Hours

This course offers an in-depth exploration of quantum hardware and experimental platforms that enable quantum computing. Topics include superconducting qubits, trapped ions, neutral atoms, and photonic systems. The course also covers gate implementation, readout methods, noise sources, error suppression techniques, and cryogenics required for experimental setups. By the end of the course, students will understand the practical challenges and innovations in building quantum computing hardware. Spring semesters. Prerequisites: MATH 5650 PHYS 5110 PHYS 5810 CPSC 5730 , or Department Head approval.
