BIOL 4480 - Ant Ecology


(4) Credit Hours

Ant Ecology is a hands-on, research-based introduction to the influences and interactions of ant populations on ecosystem processes, with an emphasis on phenomena including population regulation, food webs, ant-species interactions, systematics, ecosystem services, biodiversity and invasive species. This course includes a lab where students will apply various field sampling methods, use lab techniques to assess morphology, behavior and interactions to develop and test their own hypotheses.Fall semester.Lecture 3 hours, laboratory 2 hours.Prerequisites: BIOL 3060  or BIOL 3350  with a minimum grade of C or department head approval.Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
