WGSS 4420 - Psychology of Men and Masculinities


(3) Credit Hours

This course centers on the lived experiences of men and boys. This course explores diverse theoretical models (i.e., biopsychosocial models, feminist perspectives, intersectional frameworks) on the development and psychological experiences of men/masculinity. This course also discusses psychological experiences and outcomes of men and masculinity as they relate to topics such as mental and physical health, relationships, parenting, sexuality, and violence and aggression. This course will also introduce perspectives on avenues for social change. Prerequisites: 6 hours of Psychology credits OR 6 hours of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies credits or Department head approval. May be registered as PSY 4420. Credit not allowed in both PSY 4420 and WGSS 4420.
