MOSA 2001R - Developing Identity, Strengths, and Self-Perception I (1) Credit Hours
Utilizing a narrative approach, this course evaluates messaging individuals on the Autism Spectrum receive throughout early childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood from various sources- such as family, peers, and media- and its impact on shaping student’s self-perception. Diagnostic language is compared and contrasted with identity language as students begin to evaluate and define the personal strengths associated with ASD. Finally, students are asked to reframe negative self-perceptions into potential positive attributes through the exploration of their personal view of being an individual with ASD. Prerequisites: Program director approval.
