ECON 4280 - Sports Economics


(3) Credit Hours

Using the world of professional and amateur sports, this class will examine profit strategies, labor disputes and issues of public finance.  We will examine questions such as:  should cities support a tax-payer funded sports arena?  Should college athletes be paid a salary? Should a team pursue a win-maximizing or profit-maximizing strategy when drafting players? On demand.  Prerequisites: ECON 1020  with a minimum grade of C or department head approval. Junior Standing.  Differential course fee will be assessed.
