STEM Methods for Elementary Grades: Designed to prepare students to implement research-based methods for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) instruction in the elementary grades. Emphasis will be placed on unpacking K-5 Tennessee state academic standards in science, engineering, and mathematics, crafting measurable student learning objectives, selecting evidence-based instructional methods, designing and using high quality instructional materials, and employing various valid assessment techniques. This course also teaches how to increase student learning by integrating educational technology into instructional activities and planning. Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
