NUTR 5450 - Public Health and Community Nutrition

This course provides students with an introduction to the role of nutrition in public health. The course will address the role of nutrition in disease prevention across the lifespan and in special populations. The course explores behavioral, environmental and policy approaches to improve dietary habits at a population level. Students learn how to effectively assess and monitor population dietary habits, use epidemiologic techniques to describe the relationship between dietary patterns and health, design interventions focused on improving dietary habits, and develop public health policies aimed at improving healthy eating.Open to Public Health: Nutrition and Dietetics concentration only.Credit not allowed in both PUBH 5450 and NUTR 5450Practicum course fee will be assessed.
