PUBH 5120 - Foundations in Public Health II: Health Systems and the Environment (3) Credit Hours
The first module of this course explores the ways that environmental characteristics affect health. The module examines various health problems associated with biological, chemical, physical, and radiological agents, as well as the impact of food safety, air (indoors/outdoors) and water quality, and land resources in community settings. Finally, the impact of policies to improve public health through environmental stewardship will be reviewed. The second module of this course explores major topics in the study of health systems and health care delivery. We will discuss the organization, management, delivery, and financing of the U.S. health care system, make comparisons to the quality, cost and accessibility of health in other countries, and examine the major drivers of healthcare improvement and reform.
