PUBH 5110 - Foundations in Public Health I: Public Health Practice and Chronic Diseases (3) Credit Hours
This course provides students with an overview of public health practice, chronic diseases, and the impact of society and culture on health. Students receive a broad introduction to public health practice through an examination of the history, organization, function, and activities involved in public health at local, state, national and global levels. An overview of major chronic diseases, their risk factors, and basics to primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention will be presented. Finally, this course provides an initial examination of the root causes behind health inequities and disparities present in our society.Standard Letter Grade
