COUN 5620 - Foundations of School Counseling

(3) Credit Hours

This course provides an overview of the school counseling profession. The course will discuss the history of school counseling and the ASCA National Model. It is designed to provide a basic understanding of the role and function of the school counselor, components of school counseling programs, legal and ethical issues in school counseling, and effective evaluation and accountability.Prerequisites: COUN 5020, COUN 5440 and COUN 5450, or department head approval.
