Overview of theory and practice of counseling in human services agencies and other clinical mental health settings. Emphasis is given to the role, function, and professional identity of clinical mental health counselors, and to principles and practices of community outreach, intervention, education, consultation, and client advocacy. Prerequisites: COUN 5020, COUN 5440 and COUN 5450, or department head approval. Standard letter grade.
