MATH 1710 - Precalculus I


(3) Credit Hours

Designed primarily for students majoring in mathematics, the physical sciences, and engineering who intend to take MATH 1720  and MATH 1950 . Includes topics such as solving polynomial equations and inequalities, complex numbers, the fundamental theorem of algebra, rational functions, graphing techniques, functions, exponential functions, and logarithmic functions. Mathematical models will be taken primarily from the fields of engineering, biology, and the natural sciences.Fall and spring semesters. Lecture 3 hours. Prerequisites: A score of 19 or higher on the ACT Math or successful completion of Step Ahead Math program, or completion of a developmental math course (transfer) or department head approval.Credit is not allowed in MATH 1710 after the completion of MATH 1720 , MATH 1730 , MATH 1830 , or MATH 1950 . Credit is not allowed in both MATH 1130  and MATH 1710. Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
