Minor Requirement

• Completion of a minor with a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Program

27 hours Spanish beyond second college year, including:

• SPAN 3110 - Spanish Composition and Conversation I
• SPAN 3120 - Spanish Composition and Conversation II
• SPAN 3210 - Advanced Spanish Grammar I
• SPAN 3220 - Advanced Spanish Grammar II
• SPAN 3310 - Masterpieces of Spanish Literature
• SPAN 3320 - Masterpieces of Latin American Literature

• SPAN 3230 - Introduction to Spanish Culture or
• SPAN 3250 - Introduction to Spanish-American Culture

Additional Information and Notes

A minimum of 6 hours of Spanish at the 4000 level.

2.0 average in all Spanish courses.

To meet requirements for the major, a minimum of 9 hours of 3000 level or above must be taken at UTC.

Minimum of 39 hours of 3000 and 4000 level courses.

Electives to complete 120 hours.

Foreign Language Licensure

Students choosing to be certified in Foreign Language Education should pursue a major in a specific language (French, Latin, Spanish) and declare a minor in Education . Those individuals will be required to meet the requirement of the initial degree as well as requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program  and state licensure requirements. This may require additional coursework. An intensive language experience in the United States or abroad is required to meet state licensure.
