At the graduate level, the School of Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga offers a 30-semester-hour Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Elementary Education. The program includes 21-27 hours of professional education coursework and 3–9 hours of an approved clinical experience. Successful completion of the program, along with passing scores on the required state exams, qualifies candidates for a Tennessee teaching license in Elementary Education (K–5). Three licensure pathways are available: Job-Embedded Induction, Induction Experience (traditional student teaching), and Internship.

Program of Study
Master’s of Education in Elementary Education is a 30-credit-hour program leading to M.Ed. Teacher candidates seeking licensure with M.Ed. completion (Endorsement Code 120; Elementary Education K-5th) have three licensure pathways available: Job-Embedded Induction, Induction Experience (traditional student teaching), and Internship. Teacher candidates seeking Elementary Education licensure with M.Ed. are required to complete 3-9 credit hours of clinical experience. Graduate coursework includes 21-27 hours of professional education and 3-9 hours of an approved clinical experience. Successful completion of the program, along with passing scores on the required state exams, will qualify a student for an Elementary Education (K-5) Tennessee license. |
