Post Graduate Certificate- Family Nurse Practitioner-Lifespan

The School of Nursing offers a postgraduate certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Upon completing the post-master’s requirements, the graduate will be eligible to take one of the national certification exams offered by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The 31-semester hour concentration consists of specialty courses in primary care and support courses in the social sciences and also includes the intensive clinical (total of 1050 clock hours) which parallels the didactic courses.
The admission requirements are as follows:
- Must have a MSN or DNP as an APRN with an unencumbered license in the state of Tennessee or multi-state RN license if Tennessee is not the student’s state of residence.
- Minimum of one year direct patient care experience.
- A gap analysis will be completed for all applicants, and the School of Nursing reserves the right to require additional courses if the student does not have all courses needed for certificate completion.
