Thesis: Creative Writing

The creative thesis should consist of original prose and include an 8-10 page introductory craft essay that discusses the influences behind the thesis (this is not a self examination or analysis of the work in the thesis). The thesis itself is a cumulative document, not confined to work done during the registered 6 hours. Students normally register for the thesis during the last two semesters.

Comprehensive Examination:

Students are required to complete a 60 minute oral examination with the creative writing faculty. The examination will cover the content of the creative thesis and discussion of issues in the field. The examination is given at the time the creative thesis is submitted, but at least 24 hours of coursework must be completed.
