The M.S. Chemical Engineering curriculum structured towards relevant course-work in the first year and research or project work in the second year. The program concentration will incorporate real life problem solving opportunities through applied research and for our students to benefit from the wide range of research expertise of our faculty through this program. The M.S. Chemical Engineering curriculum is divided into four areas; Area I on mathematics, Area II with a focus on electives of choice, Area III on chemical engineering core courses, and Area IV on project and research. Students are required to take 3 credit hours from Area 1 and 12 credit hours from Area III in their first year. Students conducting thesis research are required to complete 12 hours of Thesis research in Area IV and successful thesis defense. Theses students will be required to take 3 credit hours from Area II in their first year of curriculum. Graduate students involved in project based M.S. are required to complete 12 hours in Area IV with 3 credit hours of engineering project (ENCH 5900), up to 9 hours of Special Topics course (ENCH 5910), and optional 1 credit hour of graduate internship (ENCH 5920r). The project students will be required to take 6 credit hours from Area II in their first year. The curriculum consists of a total of 30 credit hours for the Thesis students and 33 credit hours for the Project students.
