ENCE 5630 - Transportation Systems Analysis (3) Credit Hours
Focuses on theoretical insights of transportation and traffic demand analysis. This graduate level course firstly introduces important concepts in transportation (such as representations, parameters and their connections) for future transportation related research. Secondly, this course gives mathematical demonstrations of transportation optimizations. Students are encouraged to formulate and solve transportation problems through mathematical analysis. The third topic of this course is traffic demand analysis, where a four-step model is delivered for transportation planning. The two projects in this course focus respectively on transportation application and mathematical modelling, which would further enhance the connections between applications and theories in transportation. These research-based projects will potentially result in a paper submission to a conference and/or journal. Fall semesters. Prerequisites: MATH 5210 with a minimum grade of C or Department Head approval. Differential Course Fee will be assessed.
