ACC 5003 - Cost Accounting (3) Credit Hours
This course fosters advanced problem-solving and analytical skills necessary for high-level managerial decision-making. This course provides an in-depth exploration of managerial-cost accounting models and their applications in complex business environments. Students will critically analyze and apply commonly used cost accounting techniques for reporting, planning, control, and performance evaluation. Topics include advanced variance analysis, advanced cost allocation, traditional and advanced costing methods (e.g., job order, process costing, and activity-based costing), variable, absorption, and throughput inventory costing models and their implications for decision-making and control. Emphasis is placed on optimizing operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and supporting long-term strategic objectives. This course also introduces students to data analytics applicable to cost accounting activities.In depth study of managerial-cost accounting models available for planning, controlling, and evaluating operations. Every semester. Prerequisites: Must complete a principles of accounting sequence, ACC 5855 , or equivalent. Must be enrolled in M.Acc. Executive concentration. Differential Course Fee will be assessed. Business Graduate Course Fee will be assessed.
