MATH 5600 - Numerical Analysis I (3) Credit Hours
This course focuses on advanced numerical techniques for solving nonlinear equations, systems of linear equations, and ordinary differential equations. It emphasizes the mathematical theory underpinning computational methods, including interpolation, polynomial approximation, numerical differentiation, and integration. Students will develop skills in error analysis, algorithm implementation, and numerical simulation to address practical and theoretical problems, aligning with graduate-level expectations of mathematical rigor and computational proficiency. Prerequisites: Background in basic college Linear Algebra and Differential and Difference Equations, as well as a college-level background in computer science as demonstrated by college-level classes, or Department Head approval, is required.
