REL 3150 - American Islamic Traditions: History and Practice From The Slave Trade to Today


(3) Credit Hours

This course explores American Islamic traditions and focuses on key histories, diverse religious practices, and major aspects of debates in contemporary American Muslim communities. Students will learn theories of religion and society and apply them in analysis of historical and current American Muslim viewpoints. The approach of the course is interdisciplinary and learning materials are based in historical, sociological, literary, artistic, and legal perspectives.
