GEOL 3540 - Sedimentology and Stratigraphy (4) Credit Hours
Sedimentary strata record the details of Earth’s history, including the effects of changes in sea level, global climate, tectonic processes, and geochemical cycles. This course covers the basics of fluid flow, sediment transport and depositional processes, as well as sedimentary environments and systems, and stratigraphic patterns through geologic time. This course will require field trips. Lecture 3 hours, laboratory 3 hours. Prerequisites: GEOL 1120 /GEOL 1120L and GEOL 3410 with a minimum grades of C or Department Head approval. Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
