MLNG 1750 - World Cinema: Visualizing Latin American Cultures (CZ or HF)

(3) Credit Hours

This course advances visual literacy about Latin America through film. In this course, students examine Latin American films of specific regions, places, times, movements, or cultural, historical, political, or social phenomena or events. The course will also include English-Spanish bilingual films that highlight the cultural diversity inherent to Hispanic groups in the USA. The main core of the course utilizes multilingual films (e.g., films that rely heavily on Native-American languages, Spanish and Portuguese, and other modern languages) to draw attention to the rich and complex cultural realities of the peoples of Latin America. Fall and Spring semesters.
