HIST 2620 - Modern African History: Colonies, Nation-States, and Transnational Movements from 1870 to the Present (CZ or HF) (3) Credit Hours
An introduction to the history of the African continent since the late 19th century. Topics may include the growth of indigenous empires in southern and West Africa; developments in family and communal life; the impact of foreign traders, explorers, and missionaries and African responses to their presence; European colonial rule; African nationalist movements and independence; the Cold War; post-colonial social, economic, and political change; and current African trends and developments.
