ENCH 5000 - Nanomaterials

(3) Credit Hours

This course will provide an introduction to nanomaterials, nanometrology, and various applications of nanotechnology in the modern world in the first section. The second section will cover in-depth synthesis strategies and material characterization techniques for inorganic nanomaterials. The final section will involve hands-on group projects on synthesis and application of different nanomaterials. At the conclusion of the course, students should be able to apply critical thinking and modern instrumental techniques towards understanding nanoscale materials and their engineering uses. Special focus will be given to hands-on experimental techniques on nanoscale synthesis, characterization, energy, biomedical, and environmental applications, and risk assessment of engineered nanoparticles. The course will promote effective communication through weekly group presentations, poster presentation, and final report writing in journal article format. Fall semester. Prerequisites: Good academic Standing or Department Head approval. Differential Course Fee will be assessed.
