SOCW 3070 - Social Work Practice with Groups


(3) Credit Hours

Social Work Practice with Groups explores knowledge, values, and skills for working with diverse groups in the context of a social work setting. Students will develop an understanding of the needs of at-risk and oppressed populations, apply social work values and ethics in decision-making, and practice problem-solving and assessment skills needed for working within a group setting. Students will also develop the skills and knowledge for forming and leading groups. This class will help prepares students to conduct themselves effectively with diverse client populations, in varying community settings, and with a variety of client issues or concerns. Prerequisites: Admission into the Social Work program or department head approval.
