MATH 3000 - Introduction to Logic and Proof (3) Credit Hours
Fundamental ideas used in many areas of mathematics. Introduces the concepts of sets, functions, equivalence relations, ordering relations, logic, techniques of proof, mathematical induction, rational and irrational numbers, axiomatic theories, and selected topics from combinatorics. Students will regularly write proofs emphasizing precise reasoning and clear exposition to develop mathematical maturity.Fall, spring, summer semesters. Lecture 3 hours. Prerequisites: MATH 1960 or MATH 2200 with a minimum grade of C or department head approval. Standard letter grade.
