GEOL 3530 - Paleontology (4) Credit Hours
Study of animals that are preserved in the fossil record, particularly taxonomy and population, interpretation of faunal assemblages, and the concept of biostratigraphy. Laboratory exercises emphasize morphology and time ranges of major fossil groups. Field trips. Fall semester, alternate years. Lecture 3 hours, laboratory 3 hours. Prerequisites: GEOL 1120 /GEOL 1120L with a minimum grade of C or department head approval. Corequisites: GEOL 3530L or department head approval. Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
