PSY 3100 - Comparative Psychology (3) Credit Hours
Comparative Psychology is the study of behavior across species. The course will cover animal behavior and cognition (including human animals). Topics will include evolution of behavior, communication, social behavior, learning, memory, spatial cognition, tool-use, problem solving, metacognition, and consciousness. Class lectures will be augmented by visits to local animal facilities for animal observation. Students will also learn animal observation research methods and each student will be responsible for a short observational study. Prerequisites: PSY 2020 or department head approval.
