SPAN 4030 - Cervantes: Don Quijote de la Mancha

(3) Credit Hours

A critical reading of Cervantes’ masterpiece, in its entirety, in the original seventeenth-century Spanish. The history, art, philosophy, religion, and literature of Spanish Golden Age, presented as the background for Cervantes’ novellas. The imprint of Cervantes’ prose style in modern Spanish will be studied. Prerequisites: SPAN 3110  or SPAN 3120 , and SPAN 3210  or SPAN 3220 , and SPAN 3130 , or department head approval.
