MUS 2760 - Aural Skills IV (2) Credit Hours
Mastery of rhythmic patterns in asymmetrical meters; singing more advanced melodies that incorporate both diatonic and nondiatonic pitches, using solfeggio (Movable “Do”); singing melodies based on alternative scales. Echoing and dictation of melodies incorporating diatonic and nondiatonic pitches; dictation of chord progressions and cadence patterns incorporating nondiatonic predominant chords and altered dominant chords; improvisation over tonic, predominant, and dominant harmonies, incorporating nondiatonic elements. Spring Semester. Class hours 2. Prerequisites: Completion of MUS 2750 with grade of C or better or department head approval. Corequisites: MUS 2720 Musicianship IV and MUS 2740 Musicianship Lab IV.
