EDUC 3210 - Literacy Instruction in the Content Areas (3) Credit Hours
Integrating 21st-century skills, instructional strategies, and formative assessment practices within a balanced literacy framework. Emphasizes reading, writing, listening, speaking, visualizing, and visually representing as modes of learning content-area subjects in secondary schools. Focuses on adolescent literacy development of discipline-specific skills and knowledge, with adaptations for culturally diverse, language minority, and exceptional learners. Required of all secondary and middle grades education majors. Field component required. Prerequisites: Checkpoint 1 or department head approval.
