MATH 1130 - College Algebra


(3) Credit Hours

This precalculus course is designed primarily for students majoring in business, the life sciences, or the social sciences who intend to take the calculus course Math 1830. Topics include polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, arithmetic and geometric sequences, mathematics of finance, growth and decay, systems of linear equations, matrices, and geometric linear programming. Mathematical models will be taken primarily from the fields of business, biology, and the social sciences. Every semester. Prerequisites: MATH 1006 with minimum grade of C or Math ACT 19 or above or USTU 1050 or department head approval. Credit not allowed in Mathematics 1130 after completion of MATH 1830 or MATH 1710 with a grade of C or better or any other mathematics course for which these are prerequisites. Credit not allowed in both MATH 1130 and MATH 1710. Laboratory/studio course fee will be assessed.
