The Constitution and presidencies of George Washington and John Adams; the War of 1812 and the emergence of nationalism; rise of the frontier; Jeffersonian and Jacksonian democracy, emphasis on political, social, and economic developments that forged the new nation. Prerequisite or corequisite: ENGL 1010, or ENGL 1011, or ENGL 1020, or HIST 2100, or UHON 1010, or department head approval.
