CPSC 7250 - Advanced Data Science

This course focuses on making students aware of the paradigm of large, streaming, unstructured/semi-structured and real-time data leading to better insights and techniques for delivering value from this data. Students will be able to ingest, database and analyze this data for decision-making. To do so, students will be introduced to data ingestion techniques, database and descriptive and predictive data analytics tools and techniques for capturing and analyzing  large  volumes  of structured, semi-structured, unstructured and real-time streaming data from different data sources including social media. Use of major industry use cases will provide students with insights and broaden their intelligence to understand the complexity of knowledge discovery processes in use. Prerequisite: CPSC 5000 or department head approval. Differential course fee will be assessed.
