ENGR 5010 - Introduction to Nuclear Power Engineering


(3) Credit Hours

Neutron physics, reactor operation, and reactor dynamics introduced. Introduction of basic principles underlying design and operation of nuclear systems facilities and applications. Topics include point kinetics, diffusion equations, neutron transport, criticality, numerical analysis, radioactivity, fission, fusion, reactor concepts, and radioactive waste treatment, processing, and disposal. Application of principles and theory integrated in to semester project. Limited laboratory/field experiences. Prerequisites: Department head approval.
