CRMJ 4105 - Advanced Theories in Crime and Justice


(3) Credit Hours

Students critically evaluate the major themes of contemporary theory and current concerns pertaining to crime and justice. Students examine how race, gender, social class and other forms of privilege affect the process of defining criminality and creating theory. In addition to classical theories, the course will examine environmental and peacemaking criminology, as well as conflict, life course, critical race, feminist, postmodern theories and their application to the study of crime. Prerequisites: CRMJ 1100, 1000, 3110 and senior standing or department head approval. Criminal Justice majors only.
