First half from colonial period to 1873. Origins, development, and expansion of the American economy with emphasis on roles of government and business. Relationship between economic growth and social development designed to provide perspective on problems of modern society. 4340 fall/4350 spring semester alternate years. May be registered as HIST 4340. Credit not allowed in both ECON 4340 and HIST 4340.
