ENEE 4760 - Digital Communications

(3) Credit Hours

Analysis, design, modeling and simulation of modern digital communication systems. Transformation between analog (continuous) and digital (discrete) domains at baseband level; bandpass signals. Signal transmission and reception over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) source (waveform) coding. Channel (bit-level) coding, e.g., block, cyclic, convolutional, etc., and decoding techniques. Methods of synchronization at the carrier, symbol, and frame rates are examined. Multiplexing and multiple access networking techniques and brief introduction to spread spectrum system analysis. Lecture 3 hours. Spring semester. Prerequisites: ENEE 4750 with minimum grades of C or department head approval. Differential course fee will be assessed.
